Case of Keermont Cabernet Sauvignon
Cottage Lane Cabernet is found on the mid-slopes of the Helderberg Mountain range, on the crest of a ridge, 320 m above sea level. It is a very exposed parcel, resulting in small berries with low yields. It’s a fine-grained Cabernet, but the clay soils translate to a wine with power and fresh acidity. We blend in other varieties to add to the complexity and tannin structure.
Dark ruby red in colour, this vintage has a complex bouquet of ripe red berry fruit, cassis, vanilla pudding, and a touch of forest floor. The pallet is soft and rich. The tannins are round and gentle, while the natural acidity keeps the ripe fruit in check. Savoury notes of cocoa and cloves add character to the bright red strawberry and mulberry flavours which linger into a long, tight, juicy finish.
87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc.
